EMBO organises annual sectoral meetings at which Members that share a particular scientific interest are brought together. There are multiple reasons for holding such meetings:

it is useful for EMBO to hear from EMBO Members in a specialist area on actions that EMBO has taken which are of relevance to them.

to receive suggestions from the sector regarding courses workshops and conferences which should be organized and would be of interest to scientists active in a particular area.

for the Members to hear of recent developments in EMBO.

it is an opportunity for Members in a particular sector to discuss changes in science policy that affects their area.

the scientific emphasis of these Meetings is on the future, and hence provides an occasion for scientists in a particular sector to collectively identify new trends and opportunities in their area of research.
