EMBO Electronic Information Programme
"We are working not on gluing things together but on communicating" Les Grivell, Programme Manager
In the life sciences, a boom in electronic data means that biologists are increasingly going online to search for literature and diverse data types such as genomic sequences or digital images. In addition, the increasingly mobile life scientist is turning to the Web to identify international funding, training and career opportunities.
Integrating online information for life scientists
Desktop availability of online resources should make the search for information
easier. The reality is different. Scientists are often faced with the daunting
task of first locating the relevant information and then deciphering the search
results - more often than not a complex range of data spread across a varity
of databases.
The Electronic Information Programme turns information overload into information management through integration, organisation and interlinking of online information.
