EMBO Members Carlos Martinez Alonso, of the National Center for Biotechnology in Madrid, Spain and EMBC President from 1995 –1999, has been appointed Secretary of State for Research in Spain. Terrence H. Rabbits now heads up the Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine conducting translational research into human diseases.
