Scientists benefit from learning effective techniques to communicate science to journalists and non-scientific audiences. EMBO Media Workshops, held throughout the year at scientific meetings and research institutes, allow participants to learn how the media work and how to identify key concepts from research that will appeal to journalists.  A key annual event is an open media workshop during the EMBO Fellows Meeting in Heidelberg.
